BASKETBALL (GIRLS)

The Lake Braddock Bruins fell to the Madison Warhawks 57 - 44 Tuesday in the regional playoffs.  The girls were lead by seniors Bailey Edwards and Kate Esper who scored 11 points each.

The Lake Braddock girls varsity finished with an overall record of 16 wins and only 8 losses with a 2nd place finish in the Patriot District.  The leadership of Ariana Zimmerman, Kate Esper, Elisa Taylor, and Bailey Edwards was instrumental to a very successful season and the growth and development of the girls basketball program.  Thank you to all the players for an exciting and victorious season!

Congratulations to Kate Esper for being named to the Honorable Mention All Region team!
BASKETBALL (BOYS)

The Boys Varsity Basketball team concluded their season this week in the quarterfinals of the Northern Region tournament.  The Bruins advanced with a win in the Sweet Sixteen as they went on the road and stunned the Liberty District Regular Season Champion, Hayfield Hawks.  The Bruins were the definitive underdogs going into the game vs. the 20-4 Hawks.  Previously this year the Hawks had defeated the Bruins in the Glory Days Holiday Tournament 100-88 but Tuesday night the Bruins turned the tables on the Hawks and escaped with a thrilling come from behind victory 97-95.  The Bruins trailed by 5 points with one minute to go before Sam Grable's big 3 pointer cut the lead to 2 points and Corey Pelham's 4 free throws sealed the win.  The Bruins got 25 points from Jordan Cobb and Quentin James and 20 for Corey Pelham to pace the team.

Unfortunately, Wednesday night the Bruins were not able to hold off the Hornets of Herndon as the Hornets scored at the buzzer to escape with the victory 79-77.  Congrats to the Bruins who turned their season around midway through the year as their fast breaking, pressing defensive style resulted in statistical achievements never seen before in Lake Braddock Basketball.

Congratulations to Corey Pelham for being named First Team All Region. Corey has been invited to play in the prestigious Capital Classic Game in Washington, DC. Good luck Corey!

JOIN THE BOOSTERS
Consider becoming a booster club member!

The Lake Braddock Athletic Boosters Club is a nonprofit organization formed with the goal of promoting, supporting, and creating interest in the Lake Braddock High School's athletic program among students, parents, faculty, colleges, and the community-at-large. The fundraising activities of the Boosters Club have resulted in annual contributions to the school's athletic program. In meeting the goal parent volunteers operate the concession stands at home events, conduct sales of spirit wear, support Boosters Club membership drives, host seasonal sports banquets, and other sports-related activities. They also support summer camps and various clinics that teams host throughout the year. Every year, the Boosters Club provides financial support for college scholarships to assist LB student athletes. Booster Club donations have allowed the LB Athletic Department to:
  • Outfit our teams with high-quality uniforms and other items,
  • Purchase equipment and other materials needed to develop our athletes,
  • Contract for field maintenance and field and equipment improvements,
  • Provide travel assistance for teams as they compete at the state and national levels, and.
  • Support the Athletic Director in providing a quality athletic program.
Please consider joining the Booster Club. As a member you will receive a pass for all regular season HOME games all year long!

The Boosters meet the first Monday of every month at 7:00 pm in room C106 at Lake Braddock.  Each sport that is in season should have a representative attend. All other members are also invited.
