Parkas
If you have not already done so, you need to turn in your parka to Coach Scott’s room before April 28th. If your parka has not been turned in by then, your name will be given to the finance office as having dues owed to the school. The parkas cost $200+ and the amount will be place on your account. In order to graduate you must have all accounts cleared to receive your diploma. Make sure to wash and turn in your parka ASAP to Coach Scott!
Physicals
Pre-participation physical exams will be held at Lake Braddock on June 1 from 6-8 p.m. for students wishing to participate in sports for the 2010-11 school year. The cost is $40 for pre-registered students, $50 for walk-ins (please note- walk-in availability will be extremely limited). To pre-register, please go to http://www.fcps.edu/supt/activities/atp/ppeoverview.htm If you have any questions, please contact one of the school’s Athletic Trainers, Meredith.Sheeron@fcps.edu or Ashlee.Harris@fcps.edu. We would highly suggest that you get your physical here at Lake Braddock. That way it is out of the way, and if lost they have a copy here at school for the upcoming swim season.
Fundraising
As you may or may not know we will be facing a budget crunch for next year. We are starting early this year in organizing some fundraisers for the team. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $3000 but we are shooting for $5000 to cover for team events and activities, LBSD gear, and other necessities in order to make next year successful.
This Friday, APRIL 16th, we will have our first fundraiser after school selling doughnuts. Please email Michael Owens at mjo9703@verizon.net, if you would like to help with this upcoming event. Signup sheets are also outside the coaches room. We know this is short notice, but we could use all the help we can get to sell items and get the word out to the Lake Braddock students and staff.

On APRIL 30th we have planned to have a second fundraiser as a donut and bake sale. We are looking for volunteers to PLEASE donate baked goods and bring them to Coach Scott’s room before school on the 30th. Sign-up sheets for baked goods are outside both coaches rooms and will be at the April 28th meeting.
Finally, we also NEED SOMEONE TO MAKE A LBSD BANNER to put up at the table and other fundraisers so people know we are doing all of this for LBSD! So if anyone would like to make one, that would be very helpful!
I know this is a lot of information. Everyone needs to keep checking their emails throughout the rest of the year and the summer for LBSD updates as well as join the team on Facebook. We will regularly update the team on activities and events using both email and facebook. Spread the word to all your friends about our fundraisers, come with ideas to the team meeting and don’t forget the important dates mentioned. See you all soon!
Captains Contact Info: Michaels email- mjo9703@verizon.net. Amanda's email is changing soon. We will let you know the updated one soon.
THANK YOU!
Your Co-Captains,
Michael Owens and Amanda Ganey

Information about Districts
Posted on: Friday, January 15, 2010
For those new to HS swimming & diving, Districts is the beginning of the championship meets.
There are 4 districts in the Northern Region - we are the Patriot District.
This year district diving is held at Lee District Rec Center, but swimming is held at Oak Marr.
Districts will determine the District Champion – our dual season record has no bearing.
Girls Dive Wed Jan 27 & Boys Dive Thur Jan 28 ---- at LEE DISTRICT rec center
Warm-ups from 4:30 – 5:25, competition starts at 5:30
Divers do 11 dives total (dual meet is only 6 dives)
Swim prelims on Friday Jan 29, Swim Finals Saturday Jan 30 --- at OAK MARR rec center – note the change!!!
At districts all 8 teams in our district compete in the same meet - deck space is VERY crowded and so are the stands; however, the swimmers & divers benefit TREMENDOUSLY hearing the parents cheer for them. So, I urge you to dress in Bruin colors, get there early and congregate in one section so our athletes hear you cheer. There is a $6 admission fee for each night to spectators (if you pay for dive you need to give your name so you won’t have to pay for swim prelims – max you’ll pay is 2 admission fees). Warm-ups start at 4:30 and the meet starts at 5:30 – all nights. The swim meets will run until 9:30 or so each night.
At Friday swim prelims, 4 swimmers per individual event per team swim. The coaches are working very hard to come up with our best line up to score the highest we can in each event. There will be 4 heats of each event. The top 24 seeded swimmers are “circle seeded” based on their time rankings, so they could be in any lane, in any heat. The top 16 from each swim on Friday return on Saturday for finals. Swimmer 17 & 18 are alternates. The top 8 are in the Championship final and that heat is "blocked" - those swimmers can finish no lower than 8th, even if someone in the consolation final (places 9-16) beat their time in finals.
The goal on Friday is to finish in the top 8 and make the championship heat because from that heat on Saturday will come the Region qualifiers - swimmers who finish in 1st - 6th place automatically qualify for Regions. Other places can qualify for regions if they meet the region qualifying time. But, we need the most swimmers qualifying for finals as top 16 all score points – so finishing 9-16 becomes your next goal if you can’t place top 8.
Relays are swum only on Saturday - one entry per school - only one heat. The top 6 relays automatically qualify for Regions.
There will be a bus for those competing in districts on Friday & Saturday, but no transportation home. Departure time for Districts will be announced later.
There will NOT be any concessions at the meet – so, you need to bring your own food & drink to last the whole meet.
Buddy List
Posted on: Thursday, December 03, 2009
The following is the 2009-2010 season buddy list. The person you are paired with will be your buddy for the season. This is a way to bring the team closer and is a lot of fun during the season. Basically all you do is get a gift bag and fill it with a Gatorade, and whatever else you would like to have at a meet to eat. Most people put in Gatorade, goldfish, some kind of candy, maybe cookies or something to give you energy through the meet since they tend to run two and a half to three hours sometimes. Don't spend more than $10 each week but make it something you would want to get for a meet. We put divers with divers and swimmers with swimmers this year.
So the buddies are:
Divers:
Alan Waller and Miranda Ayhan
Amanda Harrison and Lizzie White
Summerlin Meredith and Josh Liberatore
Jen Stoddard and Kelly Medcalf
